I am Hannah, a Seattle wedding and elopement photographer with a love for adventure and all things outdoors.
From the age of 13 I knew I wanted to be a professional photographer, and at 17 I shot my first wedding with an old film camera (for a whole $50!).
After high school I alternated between travel and college, toting my camera with me everywhere and absolutely falling in love with photojournalism. It was, and still is, such a thrill to make connections with people and capture them in their element!
For four years I worked as an image retoucher for several large retailers, while continuing to grow my photography business on the side.
In 2014, I finally made the leap and quit my corporate job to be a full time wedding photographer. This was both the scariest and the best decision I have ever made. Photography continues to be the most challenging and fulfilling journey of my life!
In addition to shooting weddings, I mentor youth in photography and visual storytelling through Youth in Focus. I also work with other amazing youth empowerment programs, such as Power of Hope and Partners for Youth Empowerment. I am constantly blown away by the wisdom and creativity of young people, and it is so inspiring to be part of their journey!
Why I Love Wedding Photography
I love photographing people who adore each other, and being part of their journey together. I love making connections with new people, and I love capturing real emotions and interactions as they are happening.
I especially love telling stories of fun-loving couples who want to begin their marriage in an awesome outdoor setting, and who care more about experiences than stuff.
I love getting to witness and take part in the quirky moments, the bursts of laughter, the tears of joy, and everything in between on a wedding day.
Whether you are getting married in your back yard, renting out a barn or want to elope on a mountain… I’m there.
Most of the time I am grinning like an idiot behind the camera while I work, and I love that too!
When I am not doing photography related stuff, I am cycling around Seattle, playing ultimate frisbee, hiking in the mountains, playing music with my marimba band, or getting overly competitive about nerdy board games. You can see photos from my various adventures on my personal photo blog!
I could eat pho pretty much any day of the week. I use coconut oil for just about everything – cooking, on my skin, in my coffee, etc.
I have a possibly unhealthy obsession with Harry Potter. I know I am not alone in this, but I am 31 and I thought maybe I would be over it by now. But seriously, I am still waiting for my letter from Hogwarts!
